What qualifies you to answer people’s questions about real estate?
This is a difficult question. I would love to tell you that I know everything about every facet of real estate, but it just wouldn’t be true. Any honest, truly successful person will tell you that they are still learning. That’s certainly the case with me. I still read books, go to seminars, and surround myself with mentors more successful than me.
That said, I believe I am in a position to pass on a considerable amount of knowledge. I’ve been employed in the real estate industry since the age of 4, where I was responsible for collecting the coins from vending machines at my family’s developments, wrapping them, and depositing them in the company account. I received a commission from all proceeds. Since then, I’ve helped with constructing apartment buildings, managing shopping centers, buying large tracts of land, flipping starter homes, flipping luxury homes, rehabbing old buildings, rezoning properties, applying for loans, raising private equity, doing taxes, and God knows what else.
If you’re so successful, why are you answering questions for free?
For two reasons. It’s hokey and a little embarrassing, but I believe the wealthy and successful have a responsibility to mentor and teach those struggling to achieve their level of success. The only way I can justify the abundance of knowledge, wisdom, and money I’ve received is to give it away again. Every year, I commit over a substantial portion of my profits to charities. Now, I’d like to commit some of my time to helping people achieve their dreams.
Secondly, I believe the best way to increase your success is to expand your network. This site isn’t about answering questions, but carrying on a conversation with thousands of people around the world. Through that conversation, I hope to build thousands of relationships, extending my network to the point where any level of success is possible for both myself and everyone I know.
